Carrie saw a need to bring arts and education to children in her community who did not have access to arts programs. So she started a program to bring the arts to children for free. In the first year she reached over 400 children through painting and drawing programs and an acting camp. Carrie Perkins-Schnicker is a local business woman and founder of the non-profit Carrie Leigh’s Arts for Kids. She is President Elect of the Centralia Loyal Order of Business and Professional Women as well as Legislation Chair for the Organization. She spent two years in Americorps Service where she won a USA Today Volunteer Award. Carrie also worked as a Medical/Legal Advocate for Sexual Assault Survivors for six years. She is an advocate for women’s rights and Chairs the Equal Pay Day Rallys and Equality March for the BPW. She spends most of her time drawing, painting, sculpting, acting, directing and producing films. She provides these same programs free for kids through her non-profit organization. She’s been married to her husband, Rob, for 24 years and has a son, Ryan who she adores.
